Cooking Guide

Description

Cooking is the most useful skill on Runescape. Although you probably will not get rich from it at an early start, high level cooking combined with high level fishing can work wonders on your purse.

General Cooking

The following can be cooked on a range or on a fire.

  • Meat: Get some raw meat from a cow, rat, or bear. Go to a range or cut some logs and light them with your tinderbox and cook it.
  • Chicken: Kill a chicken and get some Raw Chicken. Go to a range or cut some logs and light them with your tinderbox and cook it.
  • Fish: Catch or buy the desired fish. Cook it on a range or on a fire. For more information on how to get the fish, check our Fishing Guide.

Basics for Flour Cooking

Getting Flour:

1. Grab some grain from the wheat fields. This can be found near Yanille for Member Lands or near Lumbridge for Free Lands.

2. Get a Pot from a general store or any area in which they appear. You can also craft the pot from clay, this is explained on the Crafting guide.

3. Go to a Windmill. If you are on Free Player lands, you have two choices, the Windmill near the farm on which you got the Sheep Shearer quest at Lumbridge, or the Windmill in the Cooking Guild. Note: People who pay to enter the Member Lands can choose the Windmill near the Fishing Guild.

4. Get a Jug or a Bucket. Fill them with water from a sink. Buckets can also be filled on a well.

Cooking with Flour:

1. Now that you have some Flour, decide what you want to cook with it. Once you have decided, use your Jug or Bucket with water on the pot with the flour and choose which kind of Dough you want to make.

  • Bread Dough: This is for the creation common Bread.
  • Pastry Dough: This is for the creation of Pies.
  • Pizza Base: This is for the creation of Pizzas.
  • Pita Dough: This is only for Members. It is used to make Ugthanki Kebabs.

Making Bread:

1. To make the Bread, you must have created Bread Dough in the last step.

2. Find a Range, and use your Bread Dough on it. If you are lucky and have the required level, you will have made a Bread Loaf. Or, you have a pice of burnt bread.

Making Pies:

1. To make the Pies, you must have chosen to make Pastry Dough.

2. First, you need to get a Pie Tin. You can either create it through Crafting or you can get one either at the Cooking Guild or near the Pickaxe Seller at the Dwarf Mine.

3. Use your Pastry Dough on the Pie Tin.

4. Add the content that you wish:

  • Red Berries: This can be bought in the Port Sarim food shop, or in their respawn South of Varrock near the Varrock Mine. Use the Red Berries on the Pie Crust.
  • Meat: Kill a cow, chicken, bear, or rat, and cook the meat. Then USE (Do not eat it) the meat on the Pie Crust.
  • Cooking Apple: You can get Cooking Apples from other players, or inside the Cooking Guild. Use the Cooking Apple on the Pie Crust.

5. Find a range. If you have the required level, you will be able to put the pie inside the Range and cook it. If all goes well, you now have a delicious pie.

Note: Pies are eaten in two pieces.

Making Pizza:

1. To make the Pizza, you must have chosen to make the Pizza Base.

2. USE (Do not eat) a Tomatoe and a piece of Cheese on the Pizza Base. This cane be bought at the Port Sarim food shop or in their respawn on Draynor Village inside the Dye Witch's house.

3. Find the Range and eat the Pizza.

4. For extra experience and healing, you can add the following (Be sure to have baked the Pizza first):

  • Meat: Get it from chickens, cows, bear, or rats. Cook the meat, and then USE it on the Plain Pizza.
  • Anchovies: Get some anchovies by fishing them or from the Port Sarim fishing store. Cook the anchovies, and then USE them on your Plain Pizza.
  • Pinapple: This is only for Members. Go to the Jungle area south of Brimhaven and find a Pineapple plant. Pick the Pinapple and use a knife on it to cut it into dices. Use the dices on your Plain Pizza.

Making Cakes:

1. Instead of adding water to the flour, keep the flour inside the pot.

2. Get an egg. This can be obtained on the Chicken farm that is located infront of the Cow Farms on Lumbridge, or South of Falador.

3. Get an empty bucket, and use it on a cow to get milk.

4. Obtain a Cake Tin. This can only be obtained from other players or inside the Cooking Guild.

5. Use your flour, milk, and egg on the cake tin.

6. Find a range, and cook the cake on it.

6.a To make the Chocolate Cake, you must get a chocolate bar from the Port Sarim food shop or from the Cooking Guild and use it on the baked cake.

Note: Cakes are eaten in three pieces.

Making Ugthanki Kebabs. These are only for Members:

1. You must have made Pitta Dough with your flour and water.

2. Get a bowl, either by Crafting it or buy getting it from one of its respawns.

3. Get a tomatoe. This can be obtained on the Port Sarim food shop or in Draynor Village in the Dye Witch's house.

4. Get an Onion. This can be obtained in the field infron of Melzar's Maze, or behind the farm in which you got the Sheep Shearer quest.

5. Get a knife. The knife can be obtained South of Lumbridge castle, or in Seers' Village in the house east from the bank.

6. Enter the Southern Al-Kharid desert and kill some Ugthankis. Take their Raw Meat and cook it.

7. Use your onion, tomatoe, and cooked Ugthanki meat on the bowl. This will make Kebab Mix.

8. Bake the Pitta Dough.

9. Use the Kebab Mix on the Pitta Bread.

Others

Stew:

1. Get a bowl and cooked meat.

2. Use the bowl on a sink to fill it with water.

3. Get some potatoes from the fields East of Draynor Village or West of Ardougne.

4. Add the potatoes and the cooked meat to the bowl with water to get an Uncooked Stew.

5. Find a range, and use the stew on it to cook it.

Curry:

Repeat steps 1 to 4 from above.

5. Steal or buy some Spices from the Spices stall at the Ardougne Market.

6. Add the Spices to the Uncooked Stew.

7. Cook the Uncooked Curry on a Range.

Cooked Oomlie Wrap:

1. Go to the Jungle South of Shilo. (You must be in the proccess of doing the Legend's Quest, or should have already done it)

2. Find and kill some Oomlie Birds, and take their Raw Meat.

3. Find a leafy Palm Tree and shake it. A Palm Leaf will fall to the ground. Take it, and use it with the meat.

4. Find a Range, and cook the wrap on it.

Wine:

1. Either buy or get a jug and fill it with water.

2. Get some grapes. This can be obtained by killing goblins, or in the third floor of the Cooking Guild.

3. Squeeze the grapes on the jug with water.

4. Wait for the wine to fermentate so that it is ready.

Chompy Bird:

1. Kill a Chompy Bird (I do not know the Whereabouts) and grab its Raw Meat.

2. It can only be cooked on Ogre Spitroast

Money Making

Making money by using Cooking is kind of fast. By combining cooking and fishing, you can cook Lobsters and Swordfish, which are bought by the thousands in the Free World Markets. Sharks are also a good money source on the Member Worlds.
