Fletching Guide

Fletching is a rather useful Runescape skill. You can make a good profit out of it, and it can help you level up your ranged abilities since you will not have to buy bows or arrows.

Basics of Fletching

Fletching is used to build bows, arrows of different metals, some special bolts, and darts.

The most important tool for fletching is a knife. There are several places in which you can get one, although general stores do not have them as a common item.

Making Bows
1. Get a knife, and get a log that is under your level range.
2. Choose to either make a Short Bow or a Long Bow. This will give you an unstring bow.
3. Get some Flax, and then use it on a spinning wheel.
4. Use the bowstring on your unstrung Short/Long Bow. You now have a bow ready to use.

Making Arrows

1. Go to somewhere full of NORMAL trees.
2. Get all the logs you need from here.
3. Use your knife on the logs and choose to make arrow shafts.
4. Get 1 feather for every shaft. (80 feathers if you have 80 shafts).
5. Use the feathers on the shafts to get Headless Arrows.
6. Get Arrow Heads of the metal you wish to make your arrows of
7. Use the Arrow Heads on the Headless Arrows to get your 'Metal' Arrow

Making Bolts

Yes, even though you cannot make the bolts from scratch, you can add different tips to the bolts to make them more effective.

Opal Tipped Bolts:

1. Get normal bolts from somewhere.
2. Take your pickaxe and a chilse and go to the Shilo Village Gem rocks.
Note: You must have finished the Shilo Village Quest first.
3. Mine several Opals.
4. Use the chisel on the opals, use it twice on each to make Opal Tips.
5. Use the Opal Tips on normal bolts to have Opal Tipped Bolts.

Pearl Tipped Bolts:

1.- Go fish some oysters, you will hopefully get some with pearls inside.
2.- Use a chisel on the oysters that have a pearl inside. You will get the pearl.
3.- Use the chisel on the pearl to get 2 Pearl Tips.
4.- Use the Pearl Tips on bolts to get Pearl Tipped Bolts.

Barbed Tipped Bolts:

1.- In the Ranging Guild, shoot at the targets and get a good amount of tickets.
2.- Exchange those tickets for Barb Tips. With 140 tickets you can get 30 Barb Tips.
3.- Now use the Barb Tips on some bolts to get Barbed Tipped Bolts.

Making Darts

Note: Be sure to have done the Tourist Trap quest, if not, you will not be able to make darts.
1.- Get some Dart Tips of the desired metal.
2.- Get some feathers and use them on the Dart Tips.
3.- You now have the Darts.

Money Making

Even though you could probably get some good money selling bows to archers, what people normally do is to use High Alchemy on their bows to get a nice amount of money. Arrows, on the other hand, should be sold to archers.
