Rune Crafting
Step 1: Mine Rune Escence
Rune Escence is very easy to mine. Simply empty your inventory, equip a pick axe, and talk to a character that
can teleport you to the Rune Escence. The best spot is probably the Wizard's Guild. If you can't get in there,
talk to Aubury in the Rune Shop, he's also very close to a bank. Once you arrive at and start mining Rune Escence
you will continue mining it until you are out of inventory space or interrupt the process by moving. Use one of
the several magic portals to go back to whoever teleported you to the escence.
Step 2: Get Talismans
As explained in the quest, Talismans locate and allow entry to the temples which contain alters used to turn
escence into runes. You should have an air talisman from the quest already. Here are some monsters that you
can usually get Talismans from.

Step 3: Locate Temples and Make Runes
Taking your newly acquired Talisman, load the rest of your inventory with Escence. Now right-click the
Talisman and select the 'Locate' option. You will then be given a direction that the Talisman 'pulls' you.
Move that way and continue using the 'Locate' option until you find some 'Mysterious Ruins'. Which look
like boulders and a sort of alter that do not appear on the minimap. Use the Talisman with the ruins to be
teleported to the rune Temples. Now simply click on the alter to turn all your escence into that kind of rune.
Like at the Escence, you just enter a portal to leave the temple and return to the (formally) Mysterious Ruins.
Remember that there are several temples in RuneScape. If you think you've found the ruins but using the Talisman with them doesn't take you to the temple, you've stumbled across another set of ruins between you and the temple the Talisman is affilated with. You'll have to go around and continue your search.
Also, as your level in Rune Crafting increases, you will begin to get more runes per escence. You do not get more experience points per escence, only more runes.

A few final tips. Its probably a good idea to go ahead and mine 700-1000 Escence when starting the skill. That much Escence will get you above level 20, which means you will be able to make all Element runes. Crafting Fire runes might be fastest after that, they're in more spells than body runes and are probably closer to banks. Also its much closer to Varrock and Aubury.
