Woodcutting Guide
Woodcutting can be an easy source of revenue. You can either use the wood to fletch your own arrows or bows, build fires, or sell them to other players. Woodcutting is one of the easiest stats to grow levels in (in my opinion).
Basically, you equip any hatchet (that you are able to use) and click on a tree. You have a chance at getting wood each time you try to cut a tree, the higher your woodcutting level, the better your chances at obtaining wood.
Trees
There are several different types of trees. Normal tree's are very common and can be found throughout the entire game. You can only get one group of logs from each normal tree. After you get the wood, the tree will disappear for a short period, making you unable to cut it. The higher trees such as oak, willow, etc. will allow you several groups of logs before disappearing; however, they won't re-spawn for a longer period of time. The higher the level required for cutting a log, the harder it is to cut, but you will gain more experience from it.
I suggest that you wait until you are at least 10-15 (you may even want to wait longer) levels above the required level before you attempt to cut that type of tree. This makes it much faster to get the wood. All of the trees can be found in Seer's village.
| Type of Tree | Level Required | Experience Gained |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 1 | 25 |
| Oak | 15 | 37.5 |
| Willow | 30 | 67.5 |
| Maple | 45 | 100 |
| Yew | 60 | 175 |
| Magic | 75 | 250 |
Hatchets
Hatchets are the axes that you use to cut the trees. The better the hatchet you are using, the greater the chance you have at getting wood. You can obtain most of these at Bob's Axes in Lumbridge. The higher level ones have to be obtained from monster drops and/or player smithers. Their required level is the same as it is to equip the armor/weapons, but if you don't know them here is a list:
| Hatchets | Level Required |
|---|---|
| Bronze | 1 |
| Iron | 1 |
| Steel | 5 |
| Mithril | 20 |
| Adamant | 30 |
| Runite | 40 |
