To start the Fremennik Trials quest, go to the Seers village and follow the path that leads north to the Sinclair mansion. When you come to a fork in the road, take the west-ward leading fork and follow it over two bridges and you find the viking town of Rellekka.
In the center of town you'll see a quest star on your map, go into the hall and speak to Brundt the Chieftain. Ask why no one will talk to you and Brundt will explain that the villagers keep to themselves to avoid a war with the Asgarnian's powerful magic. Eventually you discover that you need to become a member of the tribe to use the town. You need to gain at least seven votes from the council of elders to get into the tribe. To do this you'll have to complete various tasks to impress the council members, who are found around the village.
Sigmund the Merchant's Trial:
Sigmund wants a rare flower that someone in the town has, you need to prove your merchanting skills by dealing the flower away from whoever has it. Go speak to the Sailor on the dock near the market, he has the flower but he wants to use it to impress his girlfriend. He'll give it to you in exchange for a romantic ballad.
Across town, you'll find Olaf the bard. He'll give you the ballad for some new boots.
To get the boots, go to a clothes store south of the dock. Yrsa will give you boots in exchange for a decrease in sales tax.
Talk to Brundt, to lower taxes he needs to get more money by hunting, talk to Sigli the hunter.
Sigli the hunter needs a new bowstring, get it from Skulgrimen in the weapon store north of the hall.
Skulgrimen wants the rare fish the fisher caught the other day.
The fisher wants a map to better fishing spots from Swensen the navigator.
Swensen the navigator needs a weather forcast from Peer the seer.
Peer the seer needs a body guard, talk to Thorvald the warrior.
Thorvald the warrior wants to be one of the legendary Vikings that get to live in the hall.
Manni the reveler wants a special cocktail from Thora the barmaid before he'll give you his token.
Thora wants the Askeladden (just outside the hall) to leave her alone.
Askeladden wants... 5000 coins.
Now you just have to work back from there to get the merchant's vote.
Swensen the Navigator's trial:
Swensen the navigator wants you to go through his maze of magical portals. Egotistical guy that he is, Swensen used the letters in his name for the directions through the maze. Go South, West, East, North, South, East, and North again. Up the ladder and you're done.
Thorvald the Warrior's Trial:
The warrior tests your bravery by sending you to fight to the death! Also you can't bring anything that you can use as a weapon or armor with you. Win the first three fights, then let the Deathless beat you and you'll get the warrior's vote.
Olaf the Bard's Trial:
The Bard will vote for you if you can be a good bard too. You'll need a Lyre made from a special tree with strings made from golden wool that has been blessed by the Viking lake-spirit. Leave Rellekka, you should see a east-west track crossing the main north-south road. Follow it east some distance and you should see many rabbits around an unusual looking tree. Cut a branch off the tree and use a knife with your cutting to fashion a Lyre. Now keep going east until you see a Troll name Lalli, she's errected a wall around the golden sheep and golden apple tree to keep people from stealing the apples.
Lalli is a little slow upstairs, Askeladden managed to trick her out of some of her golden wool by giving her a “Pet Rock” to keep watch on the apples because it doesn't need to be fed or cleaned up after. Askeladden gives you a rock to try to trick Lalli as well, but she won't fall for it (she's already got a pet rock, she doesn't need another one). You need to collect an onion, a potato, and a cabbage (you can find these in Rellekka). Talk to Lalli again while you've got the rock and the three other ingredients, then add the rock and the ingredients to her cauldron. She'll be so impressed by your “Stone Soup” she'll give you some fleece.
Go to the Seer's village and spin the fleece into some wool which you can then use on the Lyre to string it. Now you need the Lyre enchanted, get your uncooked shark and take it back towards Rellekka. After you cross the north-south bridge, follow the coast west until you see a strange spit of land with an odd looking altar at the end. Use the shark on the altar and you'll get the Lake spirit to enchant your Lyre. Now go back to Rellekka.
Around the side of the main hall there is a door guarded by a bouncer that gives access to the stage. Once on stage, play the Lyre and you'll sing about your exploits. The Bard will be duly impressed and give you his vote.
Sigli the Hunter's Trial:
The Vikings are plagued by an evil monster they call the Draugen, a fearful of the drowned seeking out new victims. _ will give you a special talisman that will allow you to fight the Draugen. Head out of Rellekka and use the talisman's locate option several times and the Draugen will attack you (level 69). Defeat it and you talisman will absorb its essence. Take the talisman back to Sigli to earn his vote.
Manni the Reveller's Trial:
Manni will vote for you if you can beat him at a beer drinking contest! Unfortunately, your ability to imbibe alcohol stops somewhere around 3/4s of a keg. Take a beer off the table and head back towards the Seer's village. On the east-west bridge you should see a council worker. Give him your beer and he'll give you a strange object (firecracker). Go to the Seer's village and get out 250 coins, talk to the Poison Salesman and listen to his pitch, he'll sell you a keg of low-alcohol beer.
Go back to Rellekka, you want to light the firecracker with the tinderbox and put it in the pipe outside the hall. Go in and pick up a keg of beer. Wait for the firecracker to explode, when it does use the low-alcohol keg on the beer keg to swap the normal beer for your low-alcohol beer. Now challenge Manni to another drinking contest, this time you'll win the contest and Manni's vote.
Peer the Seer's Trial:
To earn Peer's vote, you must solve his complex puzzle house. To enter, you first must solve a riddle. Some possible answers include 'Fire', 'Life', and 'Time'. Once inside, go up the ladder and start searching boxes, bookcases, chests, and the animal heads on the wall. First, you should have a red disk, a wooden disk, and a red herring. Use the red herring on the cooking range and you'll get some red goop. Put it on the wooden disk to get a second red disk. Take all that down the east ladder and use the two disks on the abstract mural. You'll get a vase lid.
You should also have a bucket and a jug. Fill the jug with water and search the room until you find another jug, put the water from the jug into the bucket. Now search for a second bucket. Transfer the water between the buckets and jugs until you have a 4/5s full buck. Use it on the chest with the scale to open it and get a vase.
Shake the vase, the key is inside but you can't get it out. Fill the vase with water, put the lid on it, and use the vase on the cold table. This will make the water freeze and expand, breaking the vase. Finally, use the frozen key on the range and go down the east ladder again. Unlock the door and leave the puzzle building to earn Peer's vote.
When you've earned all seven votes talk to Brundt again to complete the quest.
