Start this quest off by speaking to Sigmund. He can be found in the Duke’s room in Lumbridge Castle. Sigmund will tell you that there was a disturbance the previous night, and that part of the cellar wall has collapsed. He asks you to speak with the citizens of Lumbridge to find out more.

Speak to Bob (the axe salesman), who will tell you that he saw some sort of Goblin-like creature with a “light on its head” burrow into a hole in the wall. But upon speaking to the Duke, the hole ha disappeared, and no one believed him. Repo t back to Sigmund and the Duke, who gives you cleara ce to investigate the cellar.

Bring your pickaxe and lantern, plus a tinderbox if needed. Go down to the cellar, and head to thesoutheastern part of the room. Use your pickaxe on the small pile of rubble to create a tunnel. A shortdistance in, you will see a brooch on the ground. Take it and exit the tunnel. Report back to the Duke. He will examine the brooch, and send you to Reldo, the librarian in Varrock.

Reldo will tell you he has never seen the brooch before... but he has a book that might have information on it. Search the shelves west of the study desk until you find the book, “A History of the Goblin Race”. The book will supply you with a history of past Goblin wars. More importantly, the book also contains a table of Goblin symbols, found carved in the rocks in the tunnel you explored earlier.

Return to Lumbridge to tell the Duke of your findings. He’ll request that you find more about the tribe. Teleport to Falador and head north to the Goblin Village. Speak with the two generals who will tell you about the tribe. They will also teach you two emotes: “Goblin Bow” and “Goblin Dance”. Back to Lumbridge, to speak with the Duke. He’s still not satisfied, and requests more information. Go back down to the cellars, and enter the tunnel again.

The path winds a lot, is full of traps, and is hard to explain, to boot. To avoid the traps: Walk a short distance east until you see two paths, both winding north. Take the right path north, and the first turn west. Continue west until the path you are on circles north and west itself. Take the dip south, immediately curling back north again. Continue along the path until it goes south, and forks around a mass of rock.Go west around the rock and continue east-northeast, taking the top (northern) path. The path will curve itself, again, winding south until you are stuck at another fork. Take the southern-most path around the rock, and there you will find the lost Goblin tribe.

Greet Mistag by using the Goblin Bow emote. Mistag tells you that breaking into the cellar was an accident. They were only following a seam of iron, and broke through the wall. Mistag also asks you to inform the Duke that they want peace. Teleport to Lumbridge, if you don’t want to go through the cave path again. And speak to Duke Horacio. The Duke and Sigmund refuse to accept the peace offering. Apparently, some silverware was stolen, and that warrants war, unless it is returned.

Predictably, the silverware was not stolen by goblins. Pickpocket Sigmund to receive a key. In the room adjacent, open the chest to receive a HAM outfit. Apparently, Sigmund is an advocate for the group. Leave Lumbridge castle and head to the HAM hideout. Pick the lock to enter, and search the crate just inside the entrance. You’ll find the missing silverware. Return to Lumbridge castle and make your case to the Duke.

The Duke will fire Sigmund, and give you a peace treaty to deliver to Mistag. Rather than suffer through the maze of tunnels beneath the cellars, there will now be a goblin near where you found the brooch. Speak to Kazgar, and he will escort you through the tunnels to Mistag. Deliver the treaty to Mistag. He will send his headman, Ur-Tag, to sign the treaty. There will be a sequence between Duke Horacio and Ur-Tag, with Sigmund in the background swearing destruction to the goblins. End quest.
