To start the quest, go to Shilo Village and talk to Yanni Salika, he runs the antique store. Ask if there is anything else to do in Shilo Village. He says if you're not busy, you could go get some Mahogany from the Forester outside of Shilo. Agree to get his Mahogany to start the quest.
First you should ho talk to any of the Foresters just south of Shilo, the Forester is willing to get you the wood but his ax needs sharpening first. If you can get Captain Sharks to take the ax to Port Sarim, Brian will sharpen it there. Captain Sharks has a boat to the west.
Captain Sharks is not, sadly, willing to take the ax to Port Sarim to have it sharpened. He'll take you there if you buy a ticket and you can get the ax sharpened yourself. Buy a ticket, ask to go to Port Sarim, and go to Brian's Axe store.
Brian can't concentrate on his work because his best friend was locked up, ask Brian if can sharpen the cursed ax or not. He wants to, but he just can't, unless you can get Aggie the Witch to be a character witness for his friend, he'll spend the next year in prison.
Aggie, of course, is the witch that makes Dyes in Draynor village. She'd be a character witness for Brian's friend but she's too busy trying to find her Apprentice, Jimmy the Chisel, who has gone missing. If you can find him, Aggie will gladly be a character witness for Brian's friend.
Head straight east until you find an abandoned building with a trap door with a piece of meat painted on top of it. Picklock the trapdoor and go down to enter the HAM hideout. HAM, Humans Against Monsters, is a mostly harmless group of anti-goblin fanatics. They currently holding Jimmy prisoner, apparently he needs more time to think about joining HAM. He's behind bars in a south-east, talk to him first. Johanus should be near by, he's the leader of HAM and they'd be willing to release Jimmy in exchange for a month's supply of Chickens from Jimmy's brother, Farmer Fred.
Farmer Fred's farm is just a bit North-East of the HAM hideout. Fred would very much like to save his brother but he doesn't have enough Chickens! However, he thinks Seth Groats has enough, if you'd please go ask him to help out...
Seth Groats is in the Farm across the River Lum of Fred, he wants to help as well but he needs one or two things first. For one thing, he needs some proper cages to bring a month's supply of chickens. Horvik in Varrock can make chicken cages like that, but before he's going to help Seth he'll need 3 steel bars in payment for fixing Seth's plow. If you pay off Seth's debt, Seth will be willing to help out with the chickens.
Bring Horvik (he's near the East Bank of Varrock) the steel bars, he'll also need some pigeon cages eventually, but first he needs some Herbal Tincture and Breathing Salts, you see he's quite ill, if you could fetch those things from the Apothecary he'll be able to make your Chicken cages.
The Apothecary also lives in Varrock, he's near the western anvils. He gives you the Tincture, but he broke his airtight container that holds the breathing salts, they're ruined! He need another container before he can order more salts so you can give them to Horvik. There is crafter named Tassie Slipcast living in the Barbarian Village who might be able to make a new airtight pot for you.
Tassie is mixed up with a merciless Dwarven Gangster named Hammerspike, he loaned her the money to start her crafting store and now he won't leave her alone. If maybe you could organize something with Hammerspike she'll make you the airtight pot the Apothecary needs.
Hammerspike and his gang live in the Western most part of the Dwarven mines, past the general store and pick ax shop. Ask him if he was always a Gangster, he'll explain a bit about his past, now he says he wants to be a Druid because it seems like a relaxing occupation. You should talk to Sanfew to see if Hammerspike can become a druid.
Sanfew is willing to take Hammerspike on as an initiate if you'll help him bring the word of Guthix to the Ogres near Yanille. Sanfew needs some kind of transportation to Yanille, he seems to think that if you bring the Gnome Pilot on top of the White Wolf Montain a nice hot cup of Guthix Rest tea you'll be able to persuade him to fly to the Ogre city. Use a bowl of water with a range to heat it up, put the water in an empty tea cup. Add 2 Guam leaves, 1 Harralander, and 1 Marrentill. Take the tea to the gnome, he will be very appreciative and agree to take Sanfew to the Ogres, but he'll need some lighter weight stuff to get there. Namely a special rope, Triple Redundant Aero Super Hawsers, henceforth known as "TRASH". Ahrein in Catherby apparently has some TRASH.
Ahrein is, of course, the trader on the dock in front of the Catherby bank. He needs you to get a Weather report, he's just financed a large trade and doesn't want his ships to get into any trouble on their way. Phantuwti in the Seer's village apparently can foresee weather conditions.
Phantuwti would help you but he and the other Seers are concerned about the well-being of Petra, a local girl who has apparently gone missing. The Seers only know she's in some kind of cave to the south-west with smelly creatures.
Go to the cave next to the Fishing Guild and climb in. Head straight north until you see a cavern to the east. Enter the cavern and you'll see a girl's shape sticking out of the rock. Search it and you'll find some vague references to Cromperty and East Ardougne. Petra, it seems, had a rather bad accident involving Wizard Cromperty's teleport brick.
Cromperty is very contrite about Petra's accident, this has happened before you see. A relatively simple spell can free people from rock faces but he needs something from Port Khazard first. Off you go! Cromperty needs some Iron Oxide from Tindel Marchant's antique store to do his spell to free Petra. While you're in Ardougne, pick up 5 pigeon cages and bank them. You'll need them later.
Go to Port Khazard (south of Ardougne), speak to Tindel, who is at the end of the Southern dock. It seems that Iron Oxide is somewhat in demand at the moment and theres only one pot left in stock. And well, you see, Tindel needs a new mattress. If you could just hope along down to Rantz and get the bed stuffed with Chompy Bird feathers, he'll give you his last pot of Iron Oxide.
Rantz can be found south east of the Ogre city. He'd get you feathers but a gnome pilot has crash landed nearby, in his efforts to repair the glider the pilot has scared away all the Chompy Birds so Rantz can't get any feathers.
Head straight west of where Rantz is until you find a gnome, a glider, and several lights. Talk to the gnome and tell him Rantz wants you to help finish the landing zone. Search a light, you'll find an uncut gem of some kind in it. Ask the gnome for a chisel, he'll sell you one for 10 coins. Cut the gem and put it back in the light, do that for all 8 lights to repair them. The gnome will be very pleased as that was the last thing they had to do to finish the landing strip.
Go back to Rantz, he'll now give you the mattress.
Take the mattress back to Tindel, who will give you the Iron Oxide.
Take the Iron Oxide back to Cromperty, who will give you an Animate Rock spell.
Take the spell to where Petra is stuck, read the spell.
Cromperty's spells tend to lack accuracy and this is no exception. You accidentally animate a pile of rock, creating a huge Slagilith (level 91) which promptly tries to crush you. Defeat the Slagilith, read the spell again to free Petra.
Go back to Phantuwti, he can't give you the weather report, unfortunately, ask him about it enough and he'll eventually explain their weather vane is broken. Climb up onto the roof and hit the vane with the hammer. Search it and you'll get the three parts you need to fix. Get a bronze, iron, and steel bar, use the pieces on an anvil to fix them. Go back onto the roof and put the post, followed by the directionals, and the ornament onto the vane. Go downstairs and talk to Phantuwti to get a weather report.
Climb back on top of White Wolf mountain and talk to the pilot, he'll now be able to take Sanfew to the Ogres.
Go talk to Sanfew, he'll be happy to take Hammerspike as an initiate.
Go back down to the Dwarven mine and talk to Hammerspike.
It seems Hammerspike was less than sincere in his wish to join the peaceful Druids. He's decided to have you killed instead! Keep talking to Hammerspike and kill each Dwarf Gang Member that attacks you (level 42-49). When you've defeated them all, you'll be able to make him forgive Tassie's debt.
Now Tassie will show you how to make a pot lid, she'll even give you soft clay. Make a pot lid on the pottery wheel, fire it, and put it on any normal pot to make an airtight pot.
Bring the pot to the Apothecary and he'll give you the breathing salts.
Take the breathing salts to Horvik, he'll make the Chicken Cages now, but he needs 5 Pigeon Cages to convert.
Unbank the cages, it doesn't matter if they still have pigeons in them, talk to Horvik again and he'll give you 5 chicken cages.
Talk to Seth, he'll be willing to supply HAM with chickens.
Go back to the HAM cave and talk to Johanus, he'll release Jimmy now.
Go talk to Aggie, she'll now be a character witness for Brian's friend.
Talk to Brian, he'll sharpen the Forester's ax and give it back to you.<
Go back to Karamja and talk to the Forester. He'll give you the Mahogany. Give the logs to Yanni to finish the quest!
