To begin this quest you must wait to get the message telling you that the Well of Voyage has been repaired. This is a pretty common random event and you should get one pretty quickly if you have finished the Underground Pass. Note that you don't need to have level 56 agility to get the message but you will need it later (or agility several potions).

When you get the message, go speak to King Lathas in his Castle in Ardougne. Lathas will tell you that the Mages have repaired the Well of Voyage but he can't send any men with you and the Well isn't suitable for sending trade and troops through. He'll also tell you that Tyras' army is encamped south of the Elf City. The Elves want to help but they have their own battles to fight. Your quest is to defeat Tyras, find a better way to and from Ardougne, and report back.

Now you'll need to get out the usual items for going through the Underground Pass. Rope, food, spade, bow and arrows. Bring your armor and some anti-poison pots. Here is how you get through the Pass in case you've forgotten.

  1. Climb over the rock slides to get around the swampy ground in the first cavern.
  2. Talk to Koftik to get a damp cloth. Use it on an arrow. Use the arrow with the fire. Equip the arrow and bow. Walk up the side passage to a fence and shoot at the bridge support. Repeat until you hit it, you will cross automatically.
  3. Use a rope with the rock over the pit to swing over.
  4. Start at the grate to the extreme right. Go forward from it once. Go left once. Go straight across (might be different for different people).
  5. Search the odd markings on the walls to attempt to disarm them.
  6. Climb down the well you find. Picklock the first cage on the left. Use a spade over the mud. Follow the passage to the ledge and go across it.
  7. Either go over the stone bridges or pick-lock the cage to take the short cut.
  8. Go through the pipe and then through the tunnel, past the Zombies and Paladins. Use a plank on the flat rock to get over the trap. Through the gate of Iban.
  9. Cross the stone bridges, keep to the South-East until you find a large platform with many Iban disciples. Go through the door in the large structure.

You will now be in a chamber with Koftik and some Wizards and the well of Voyage. Speak to Koftik, then climb down the well. Leave through the cave exit and you'll be in the forest. A strange Elf-woman will appear and speak to you, but she'll be shot by two archers. The Elven-Archers tell you to go talk to Lord Lorwerth in the North-West part of the woodland.

The forest is full of traps. Look out for leaves covering spike pits, sticks that spring up and hit you, and trip wires connected to dart traps!

There isn't a good way to describe how to get through the forest, so bear with me. Follow the main path west until you see a big mushroom surrounded by bluish grass, there will be some of the spring-up-sticks near here. Pass them and head north until you find a log bridge. Go across, this is the Elven camp with Lord Lorwerth. Speak to him and he'll tell you to go find one of his trackers to the south.

Go back across the log and over the leaf trap but don't go past any spring-up-sticks. Keep heading south until you find the tracker. The tracker wants proof that you're really working with the Elves. Return to Lord Lorwerth and ask for something to prove that you're on the same side. He'll give you his pendent. Go back and speak to the tracker again. He'll now accept that you're there to help. He'll tell you to look for tracks, you'll find some if you go straight west of him. Try to follow the tracks, you won't be able to pass through the dense forest but try anyway. Go back and talk to the tracker again, he will explain how to get through the dense forest.

You need to be ready for a fight here, make sure you've got food, weapons, armor and probably protect from melee. Follow the tracks through the woods and you'll get attacked by a Tyras guard (level 110). Beat one and you won't get attacked by them anymore. Go through some more dense forest to the north, look for a catapult. Once you find it, there should be one more set of dense forest to the south guarded by one of Tyras' men. If you ran from one earlier you need to beat him now.

Once thats done, go through the forest he was guarding, you'll find Tyras' camp. Speak to the General there and he'll tell you you can't see Tyras. The general store in the camp is where you can buy halberd's. Go back to the tracker, then talk to Lord Lorwerth.

Lorwerth will tell congratulate you and give you a book with instructions on how to make "Fire Oil". You need to find the ingredients.
Naphtha: You need to get some coal tar first. Get some barrels from the Tyras camp. Now go back to the tracker, head directly south of him and there will be a place where you can get close to the tarpit. Use the barrel on the tar to take some.
Brimstone: Get some of the sulphur near where you get the tar. Use a pestle and mortar to grind it into powder.
Quicklime: First you need some limestone, which can be found by following the main path (where you began) over a bridge and to the Elf city of Prafddinas. Then going east to a mine (look out for Dire Wolves, level 88). Take your limestone back to the Tyras camp and use it on the "small furnace" to obtain your Quicklime. Use it with a pestle and mortar to grind it up as well but make sure you have a pot in your inventory.

Now go to Rimmington and speak to the chemist, show him the book. He won't be able to help you with the Brimstone and the Quicklime but he'll let you use his still to make the Naphtha. You'll need a barrel of coal tar and an inventory of coal. Add coal, but be careful. If the gauges rise too far you'll have to start over. Be patient and experiment a little bit. Eventually you'll get a barrel full of Naphtha. Use the ground sulpher and pot of quicklime to make the barrel bomb.

Finally you need a fuse for the bomb. Get four balls of wool and use them with the loom in the Elf Camp to the North West (where you met Lord Lorwerth). You'll make some cloth. Use that with the Barrel Bomb to make the fuse. Now kill a rabbit and cook the meat, you'll need it to distract the guard. Now just use your barrel bomb with the catapult to shoot it at king Tyras!

All you have to do now is find a better way to move people and commerce to the elf-lands. Talk to Lord Lorwerth now and he'll give you a letter to prove you killed Tyras, and he will tell you there is a pass to the North-East. Go back to the care you leave when you go through the well of voyage, there will be some dense forest near it to the north. Go through it and across the log bridge, then past a tripwire. East of the trap you'll find the start of a path, follow it to the east past some Dire Wolves and Deadly Red Spiders until you find a huge gate. Go through and talk to king Lathas again to finish the quest!

No, wait! There is still time for a final plot twist, of course. An Elf stops you on the stairs to King Lathas' castle and tells you have been deceived! He magically opens the letter so you can read that Lorwerth and Lathas are actually plotting to use the power of Zamorak to crush Camelot!

For the time being, you have to spy on Lathas and his cronies. The Elf closes the letter and gives it back, you have to act normal. Now go talk to King Lathas and get your reward.
