The first thing to remember is that this is a Desert Quest, which means you will need to have Desert or Slave robes and several waterskins to protect yourself from the heat. You won't be able to walk around in your armor. You'll need some Papyrus, buy some from Ali Morrisane.

The Quest starts at a ruined city to the East of the Shantay Pass. Talk to Shantay to buy a ticket for 5 gold. You need to talk to the broken Clay Golem. Uzer will say that he is damaged and his task is incomplete. Offer to try to repair him to start the quest. You need to go into the dungeon near the Golem, in the north-eastern corner there is a "Strange implement", take it back up to the surface and use it on the Golem. Then use 4 soft clay on him to repair him.

The Golem tells you that he is part of an army that has been trying to defeat a Demon that destroyed the city you're in. The demon is severely wounded but he still lives, the Golem needs you to open a portal to the demon so he can strike the final blow and defeat the demon. To open the portal, the four statuettes of Golems in the center of the dungeon must be turned to the correct positions. However, the Golem does not know the combination and one of the statuettes is missing. Go back to the surface, near some boxes you will find a letter from the Digsite near Varrock from Elissa.

Go to the Digsite, Elissa is to the East, just south of the level 3 digsites. She'll tell you that her late husband lead an expedition to Uzer. His notes are in the library in the Exam Center. Go to the Exam Center and search the bookcases until you find Varmen's Notes. Read the notebook and you'll find out about the Golems and the Demon in that destroyed Uzer, you'll also find out that the fourth statuette was removed by Varmen. Talk to Elissa again, she'll tell you the statue is on display in the Varrock museum. The curator won't let you have the statue no matter what you say, so pick pocket the key to the statuette display case. The first case on the wall to the right when you go upstairs has the statue. Take it and go back to Uzer.

Put the statuette in the empty alcove, turn all the statuettes so they face the door at the end of the dungeon. The door will open and you'll see a strange portal. Go through the portal and you'll enter the Demon's lair. Luckily, the Demon has long since died of his wounds. Go back to the surface and tell the Golem that his task is complete. Unfortunantly, you can't convince him of this fact.

Varmen's notes reveal that Golems can be ordered by inserting a piece of papyrus with the new instructions written in a natural source of ink with the feather of a Phoenix. First go north of Uzer until you find a clay mine. A desert Phoenix is wandering around here, pluck one of its feathers. Now go back to the opening to the dungeon and pluck one of the desert mushrooms growing around it. Use the Pestle & Mortar on it and you'll fill a vial with ink. Use the feather with the ink, then use the feather on a piece of Papyrus. Use the "Strange implement" on the Golem to open its skull and use the Papyrus on the Golem. The Golem will now realize its task is complete and thank you.
