Start point: The Shantay Pass south of Al Kharid
Speak to: Shantay or one of his assistants and anyone else you find there

The Shantay Pass, as stated above, is located south of the Al Kharid warrior barracks. Here you will find Shantay, his assistants, and some guards. You will also find a jail building and a bank chest. Open your bank chest and get a your combat gear some form of teleportation (in case you are about to die), about 500 gold coins, and some food. Now talk to Shantay or one of his assistants and ask to access his shop. From here, buy a knife, two full water skins (you may only need one, but to be on the safe side I would bring two), three bronze bars, thirty feathers, and desert clothes (both the shirt, pants, and boots). Also get a desert pass, which you will need to get into the desert. If you leave the desert then you will need to get another desert pass to return to it. Also, you'll want to bring 100 coins with you.

Once you exist talk to Irena. She will say her daughter is missing. Ask her one of the top two questions, or you may ask both. You may ask what the reward is as well. After saying one of these things you will get the option to say that you will help her find her daughter. Choose this option and she will ask again if you are sure you want to help her, and naturally, you should respond yes. Slightly the the south you will notice a cactus. You can use your knife on a cactus and extract juice from it, making a water skin have one more drink available in it. There is a chance that you will fail to do this though. Either way, once this is done the cactus will become a dry cactus, and after a period of time it will return to normal so you may extract more of it's fluid. Each water skin gives you four drinks until it is empty. By walking and standing you will become thirsty and will have to take a drink every so often, though walking will make you thirsty quicker. By wearing the desert clothes through the desert you will have to drink less often. If you run out of water then you will begin to lose health, so it is essential that you must keep your water skin with at least a little water left!

You will also find some disturbed soil tracks. Examing this will basically just tell you that there are tracks headed to the southwest. To the south you will find a mercenary camp. To the west side of the camp is an entrance. Here you will see a group of mercenaries as well as a mercenary captain. You may attack him to get his key or say hello to him, then ask him for work. Though the assignment he gives you, which is going to the west to kill a bandit leader, cannot be done, since the true leader of the west, so called "bandit camp", says that the bandit leader does not exist. So just simply kill the mercenary captain and a key will be added to your inventory. Now unequip your weapon and enter the gate. If you do not unequip your weapon you will be sent to a jail cell inside the mercenary camp. If this happens simply search the window to the north and go through it. Sometimes you will not succeed to get through the window the first time, so simply try again. Then climb over the rocks. You will take some damage if you do not successfully climb over. However, if you go into the northwestern house and go up the ladder, then search the desk, you will find a key to get out of this cell. That way, you will not have to climb out all of the time. Now, go into the mercenary camp and talk to one a slave in the green robes. Tell him you are a new recruit. Then say that his plan is interesting. After that, ask him what he needs to complete is plan. Afterwards, say "funny you should mention that.." this will result in you trading your complete desert robe set for the slave's robe top and bottom. Beware though! When trying to enter or leave the camp with slave robes there is a chance the guards will take you to a random part of the desert as well as steal all of your water skins except one, which they empty that one.

Now you may enter the large wooden door to the north. You must be wearing the slave robes to do so. Down here you will find mercenaries, mining slaves, rowdy miners, and rowdy guards. You may want to beware of the rowdy guards because they will automatically attack you. Go to the end of this mine and you will find an opening to another section of the mine, however, you may not yet enter. You will have to talk to the guard and ask if you may mine in a different section. To his statement, reply, "Yes sir." He will then ask that you get him some pineapple, and once more, reply "yes sir." Now leave the mercenary camp and head to the west. Eventually you will come to an area with two tents and people wearing white robes (which are desert robes). Now go into the northern tent and talk to the leader, Al Shabim, who is wearing a white party hat. Ask for a pineapple. He will say that you must first do him a favor and go to the mercenary camp. Do this and then enter the northwestern building. You should see a ladder which you will need to go up. Inside will be a man named Captain Siad you will also see a chest, a desk, and some bookshelves. Search the bookshelves and you will find books about sailing. Now talk to the captain. Ask if you can chat for a little. After that, say, "You have quite a lot of books!" Then ask if he has a passion for sailing. Finally, say that you could tell he liked sailing by the cut of his jib. This will distract him a bit, giving you time to use the key on the chest. You will then get the plans.

With these plans return to Al Shabim. He will now ask that you help him make the item. Say that you will do so. He will give you permission to enter the hut to the north. Use the plans on the guard and he will let you in. Now click on the anvil and click to use it. This will use one of your bronze bars. There is a chance you will fail. If not, you will make a prototype dart head. If this succeeds, you will then need to use feathers on it. If you fail then you lose ten feathers. Once you have completed the dart return to Al Shabim. He will take the dart, the plans, and the key used to open the chest off you. In return he gives you the pineapple as well as six bronze throwing darts. You will also be rewarded the ability to use throwing darts.

Now return to the mercenary camp and enter. Be sure to enter without a weapon and preferably without slave robes. Upon entering put both back on then enter into the large wooden doors. Return back to the mercenary that wanted to pineapple and give it to him. Use the pineapple on him and he will now allow you to pass. Simply right click the cave entrance and click on the enter button. Now you will be taken to a new area. You will find some barrels to the north. Search the barrels then pick one up. To the east you will find a mining cart. Search the mining cart and you will be able to ride it. If you fail to get in you take damage. You may have to try many times to get in. Once you get through you will have to take the northwest path. You will find Ana here. Use the barrel on her and you will capture her in it. Now go back where the cart was. Use the barrel with Ana in it on the cart, then get in the cart yourself. When you get to the other side simply search one of the barrels and you will once again get Ana. Now, talk to the mercenary by the lift platform. Ask for help carrying the barrel. Afterwards, say that you said he was very gregarious. Now, leave this area of the mine and then go back out to the mercenary camp. Go over the lift and choose to operate it. Then search one of the barrels to find Ana in it. Put Ana in the cart now. Then search the cart. Choose to distract the driver. Then say, "One wheel says to the other, 'I'll see you around.'" Next choose, "One good turn deserves another." Then choose, "Fired? No, shot perhaps." Choose, "In for a penny in the pound." Now say, "Well, you see, it's like this." Choose that you will give him ten coins. He will then demand one-hundred, so give him what he asks for. Finally, search the cart and get in it. You will be taken out of the camp. Finally, go back to where Irena is and use the barrel on her. You have now completed the quest!

Reward: Experience in two of the following: Thievery, smithing, fletching, and agility. You may choose two different skills to gain experience in each or choose the same one twice to get double the normal amount of experience. You will get two quest points, and also, from previously in the quest, the ability to use throwing darts. You will also be given a key. This key can be used to explore the northeastern route in the section of the mine where you found Ana. This mine contains three soft rock mithril ores, four hard rock mithril ores (one you cannot reach), three soft rock adamantite ores (one you cannot reach), and finally, three hard rock adamantite ores (once again, you may not reach one).
