To start this quest, go to the Castle Wars (a ring of dueling could help you on this quest). Leave and go directly south. Talk to Grish, the big Ogre wearing a skull helmet. He will tell you to leave because their ceremonial dance ground and underground tomb is infested with undead Ogres with some kind of sickness. Ask if you can help, Grish will try to warn you off a couple times. Ask if there is anything you can do, eventually you'll start the quest. Grish gives you 3 cooked Chompy Birds and 2 super-stat restore potions.
Next you need to find some clues about what is going on, go talk to the Ogre guard in front of the barricade and he'll break down a section you can climb over. If one of the undead hits you, you will catch the disease that lowers your stats, which is really annoying but not very dangerous. The Zogres are hard to kill with normal weapons so mostly just try to run past them, you'll want a knife, maybe some food and the Super Restore potions. Any moderate armor and weapon will work, you need to kill a level 30 Zombie. Go straight east to the Dungeon symbol, go down the steps into the tomb.
In the tomb you need to go North West to a large fire blackened chamber with a skeleton and a ruined lectern. Search the lectern and you'll find a scrap of a Necromantic Spell. Search the tomb directly in front of the lectern, a hole has been punched in it. Use a knife to open the simple locking mechanism and you will open it. You'll get a strange black gemstone out of the tomb. Finally search the skeleton, a Zombie will appear and attack you but its much easier to kill than Zogres. The Zombie will drop a ruined backpack, make sure to take it and bring it with you. Go back up and out of the underground area, through the dance ground and over the barricade.
Read the piece of paper, you can't make out the spell but you see there is a guild symbol on it. Look at the gem also, it seems to be magical. The backpack will disintegrate when you open it, but you'll see it belong it someone named "B. Vahn". Inside, there is a knife, some rotten food, and a mug with a dragon on it. Take the gem and paper to the Magic Guild in Yanille and ring the bell by the door. A mage will come out and ask you what you want. You will show him the Black Gem and the paper, he'll agree that it looks like a Necromancer's Spell. Which is strange because although Mages can learn Necromancy they are not allowed to use it. The Mage will tell you to talk to the Wizard Sithik who is ill in the upstairs room of the building to the north. The Mage doesn't think he had anything to do with the undead infestation but bring any evidence to the contrary you might find.
Go to the building and up the ladder, Sithik is in the last room. Talk to him and then search the Drawers, the Wardrobe, and the Cabinet. You'll find a book on portraits, a book on Necromancy, and a book from Humans Against Monsters. You'll also find some papyrus and charcoal. First look at the Necromancy Book, you'll find there is a torn page in it. Use the torn page from the tombs, you'll see that they match. Read the portrait book and the HAM book. Then use a piece of papyrus on Sithik to make a portrait of him.
Go to the Inn in Yanille, show the dragon mug to the barkeeper. The barkeeper will tell you that the mug belongs to Vahn, and he carried it everywhere. When you tell him you think Vahn is dead he'll tell you that he saw Vahn talking to a Wizard. Show the barkeeper the portrait of Sithik, the barkeeper writes a note on the portrait saying that it was Sithik who was talking to Vahn in the inn. Take all your evidence to the Magic guild and ring the bell again.
The Head Mage will be convinced by your evidence and give you a bottle of some liquid to give to Sithik to convince him to tell the truth. Take it to Sithik's room and use it on the tea on top of the drawers. Go back and talk to the head mage, then talk to Sithik again. The potion turns him into a Ogre, he hates Ogres and will now be cooperate so that the mage will turn him back into a human.
Sithik will tell you there is no way to remove the curse he cast. He'll also tell you that you can make an Ogre Brutal arrow which will hurt the Zogres. Finally he'll tell you that you can cure the disease with a potion made from herbs found in the Jungle. One herb is found in vines near the river and the other is found on the walls of caves.
To make the compound bow, use a knife with logs from an Achey Tree and have some Wolf Bones in your inventory. To make Brutal Arrows, cut some Achey Tree logs into Ogre Arrow shafts. Use feathers on the shafts and then use nails on the fletched shafts with a hammer in your inventory.
To make the disease cure, you need to go to Karamja (the gnome glider can help with this if you've done the "One Small Favor" quest). First go to an area along the shore south of Tai Bwo Wannai village and search Marshy Jungle Vines. You'll find a grassy herb, identify it and mix it into a vial make a couple of potions because you'll need multiple doses to completely cure yourself. Next, go to the cave north of the village and search the fungus on the walls. You'll find some Rouge's Purse. Use this with the Snake Weed mixture you made earlier and you'll get a 3 dose potion of the cure, Relicym's Balm.
Go talk to Grish again, tell him you know who is responsible. You will explain that the curse on the Ogre dance grounds can't be lifted so they will need to make new ones. Grish will ask you to get artifacts used to make ceremonial areas by the Ogres that are in the bottom of the cave. He will give you a key to get through a door in the graves.
This is the "big fight" at the end of the quest so bring food and some of the Go back through the dance ground and into the caves. Go South West this time until you find two sets of large stone doors. Go through them and go down the staircase in the chamber beyond. Run past the Zogres and keep going South West until you find a plinth. Search the plinth and a giant Zogre will attack you. You might be able to use other weapons on him but I used Steel Brutals and range him from around the corner of a pile of bones. He does shoot something, but the only effect was that I caught a worse case of the disease that required 5 doses of Relicym's Balm.
Defeat the giant Ogre and take his Helmet. He also drops several bones which will give good prayer experience, but you need the helmet to finish the quest. Take the Helmet back to Grish outside the ceremonial dancing grounds to complete the quest.
Give one of your vials of Relicym's Balm to Uglug Nar, he will give you 1000 coins. He'll also now sell 3 dose potions of the cure for 200 coins. You can also sell your Brutal Arrows and your bow to him if you don't want to keep them.
Zogres will drop keys that can be used to open Ogre tombs which have the new ancestral bones in them that you can bury for more prayer experience.
